Daniel Cherqui
An internationally-renowned and highly experienced liver surgeon, Dr. Cherqui has contributed major advances to the field , including pioneering work on minimally invasive liver surgery and he was the first to use laparoscopy in living donor liver transplan- tation. Dr Cherqui has also contributed innovative techniques for major resections that require open abdominal surgery. This includes resection of large tumors, multi-stage resections and resections that bridge patients to liver transplantation.

Dr. Cherqui’s expertise includes the comprehensive surgical management of diseases of the liver, pancreas and biliary tract, including management of primary and secondary liver cancer. Of note, in combination with other surgical, medical and radiation oncologists, Dr. Cherqui offers surgical treatment to patients with colorectal or endocrine cancers with synchronous liver metastases.
Under Dr. Cherqui’s leadership, the new hepatobiliary and liver transplant program at NYP/Weill Cornell provides patients with state-of-the-art, personalized care for their liver disease through a multidisciplinary approach.
